You’ve heard it said that in order to succeed in the future, learn AI. But more important than that, in my opinion, is choosing the best AI tools today that will help your business succeed in the future. The good news is that you don’t need to be an AI genius to use AI. That’s why it has intelligence in the name. What you need to know is how to practically apply AI to your daily tasks, which is what we’re going to cover today.
Natural Language Processing
One of the best use-cases for AI right now is around Natural Language Processing. These tools have been around for a while already, but when combined with Generative AI (Think ChatGPT), they become even more powerful.
Our favorite AI tool in this category is Fathom.video (my referral link), which is an AI-powered note taking tool. It automatically records, transcribes, and summarizes video calls on Zoom, Teams, or other conferencing tools. It allows for real-time annotation, such as marking a To-Do item in the call so you can get a checklist afterward.
One of our favorite features of this tool is in the paid version, which allows for you to easily share snippets of a video call with your team. This is useful if you are reviewing a product deliverable with the client and they provide feedback you need to share with your developers and designers. You can simply take the AI summary and video snippet (example link) and share that directly to the team, who can then hear in the client’s own words what they are envisioning.
Generative AI
Of course, ChatGPT has been our go-to since it came out for generating ideas and content. There is not a day that goes by that some combination of ChatGPT doesn’t feed into our team’s creative or learning process. While it is not good to rely upon the accuracy or dependability of the information, it certainly provides a launch point for further research on the topic. Be sure to always fact-check if you’re exploring a domain that is not in your expertise.
Another fantastic tool is built into Adobe’s suite of software. It’s stunning how easy it is to expand the area of an image, or add AI generated image content that seamlessly merges with the original photo. When we’re working on a website design project, the dimensions and size of an image can make or break a design. But with Adobe Photoshop, we can now in minutes fix what could have taken hours prior.

Summary
Artificial Intelligence promises to continue to make our lives in the business world easier through innovative tools, but the proliferation of good options makes choosing a long-term winner even tougher. This is made even worse by the trend of AI models using AI Generated data for training. If you pay attention to the AI space, you’ll begin to see “Model Collapse” mentioned more and more.
In the end, the “A” in AI is still important: it is artificial, and relies upon real intelligence to provide any real value. I predict that scientists will realize that, similar to the law of Biogenesis, in which life is derived from the reproduction of other life, there will be a law of “Inteligensis,” which is that intelligence is derived only from existing intelligence.
